Подобный технический анализ (technical analysis) часто противопоставляется фундаментальному анализу (fundamental analysis), когда предполагаемые изменения на рынке связываются с лежащим в основе их состоянием хозяйства, ожидаемыми тенденциями его развития. Аналитики, использующие прошлые тенденции для прогнозирования будущего развития, называются чартистами (chartists) (от слов “график”, “таблица” и т.п. - Прим. пер.).
